The importance of molding for any flooring project
A good molding adds just the finishing touch needed to make a flooring project look perfect, even the most complicated ones. Most of the trim used around your floor edges is for decorative purposes, but there are some pieces that actually serve a very functional purpose. Yes, a homeowner can get by without these pieces, but just experiencing them one time, and all the benefits that come with them, will be a sure way to create a loyalty to the product.
There are three primary functions for molding, and if you have any, it’s likely to fall into one of these categories. A barrier, for example, goes around a door or window, inside baseboards, or even between jambs and sheaths, to fill gaps and to protect against water damage. A cover-up is a piece that masks the expansion and contraction gap, leaving you with a seamless looking floor. And finally, the decorative mold simply goes into places where a focal point or extra bit of pattern is desired. Dress up any space with this kind of decor.

Paint grade used a variety of little pieces to make a larger piece and is often referred to as finger-jointed. The paint grade, once painted, can’t often be distinguished from the clear grade.
When selling moulding, proper storage techniques cannot be overemphasized. It should always be stored inside, in the same location where it will be installed. This gives it time to acclimate to the proper moisture levels of the room. Also, saving “scrap” pieces is very important as well. Not only can they be used to set up test cuts, but they can also be used to make future repairs if necessary.

Flush stair board molding

The Flush Stair Board is used for the staircases or steps. This piece is to add style and function to the steps and have a smooth finish between the luxury vinyl flooring and the edge of the steps.
